I have a better internet connection today so wanted to post a couple of videos from yesterday. This one is a geyser that erupts at least once an hour at the Maori Village site we visited.
We also attended a Maori cultural show with fabulous characters showing some of the facial expressions and customs used in special ceremonies. I thought the kids in the readership would appreciate this one.
We awoke this morning to a beautiful day so Cathy and I went for a walk along this wonderful beach near the B&B. The sun was just coming up and the beach went on for miles and miles. Lots of people were out enjoying the day and setting up their fishing lines.

We talked to a fellow who was using an ingenious method of setting up his fishing line. He had a big role of nylon line attached to what he called a torpedo. This was a battery operated device that was set in the ocean and travelled about one mile out to sea. As the device travelled out he attached numerous pre-bated hooks to the line. Some time later he fastened a battery to the device on shore and wound the line back in pulling any fish and the 'torpedo' back in. He regularly catches snapper, flounder and the occasional shark.

We also found a sand crab scurrying along on the beach and lots of Red-billed Gulls a native bird of New Zealand.
We planned on making our own supper this evening and by the time we settled into our self-contained unit we were getting quite hungry. This is a sampling of the veggies we bought and then prepared for the roaster. Along with lamb chops cooked on our bar-b-que we had a delightful supper. It was quite wonderful to make a meal for ourselves.
So there goes another day in this incredible country.
