Bike and Bage

First full day on the Bike/Barge trip. What a glorious day with sunshine, beautiful temperature, little to no wind, constantly changing canals and fantastic terrain for cycling. This area of The Netherlands is the province of "Holland" and has lots of agriculture centered around polders (areas of land between canals).  Here is a group of pictures from our first day of cycling.

Typical house along the route, complete with it's own canal.

Hostein-Friesian cattle, developed in the north of the Netherlands make up about 1/3 of all dairy cattle in the world.

Stopping for lunch.

A Moorhen.

A Mute Swan common in this area.

A canal with farm land on each side called a polder.

Back to the Anna Antal for drinks and supper.
