Day 7.. more biking

We begin each day with a tremendous breakfast and a selection of bread, meat, pickles, lettuce and condiments to make a lunch to carry with us on our bikes.

A stop at the local church before we headed out allowed me to search for birds while half of the group went on a tour.

Eurasian Wren.

I found this an amusing image as this lady, who reminded me of a family relative set about to feed as many pigeons as possible. As you can see the pigeons were very obliging.

The next stop was a cheese museum and shop where we had time to buy some Gouda cheese in believe it or not the town of Gouda.

The terrain is similar to yesterday with some more open areas and interesting towns that we pass through.  An early feature of the days ride was a trip across a canal on a small ferry

This area has the largest collection of working Dutch windmills and is set up for visitors to view a working mill.

We had a very pleasant stop in a wooded area for a rest and a snack as we missed a coffee stop this morning.

Each day I had noticed some houses topped with a thatched roof that look so neatly trimmed.  I wondered just how this was created and if craftsmen were still available to build and repair.  Today we just happened to come by just as this fellow was working on a house.

Cathy had a lovely conversation with this girl and her mother about their life and the horse.

I really enjoyed watching this Coot feed the two babies who were continuously begging for food.

The noise from this green frog was very loud and distinctive.
